The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began
Now far ahead the Road has gone
And I must follow if I can

Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet
And whither then I cannot say

Alive, I feel it settle in my gut
The wine that was your sweet embrace
So now, we'll go upon our merry way
And live down on New Zealand way

Far away,
That's where you'll find us boys
And write to us "Dear Jack,"
But I can't say we'll right back
Cause we're destined for the Hobbit's Shire

The farm, we bought in fields of green so pure
The sheep, as white as winter's snow
I burned my records from America
Said, "Darlin', this be our final home"

So now I'll jump and jig as I dream of our last gig
In New Zealand, our home sweet home
And carryin' on my tune, I've one thing to say to you
And that's the way, and where you'll find me

Far away,
That's where you'll find us boys
And write to us "Dear Jack,"
But I can't say we'll right back
Cause we're destined for the Hobbit's Shire

Settled down with our wives and kids
The dream will soon be realized
The Rivers, immortal in our last reprise
That day, will someday come to light

Until then I'll play as a bat out of hell
In Edmond, our beloved teenage home
We'll play the Racket Room and Conservatory too
And someday, when you can't find me, I'll be

Far away,
That's where you'll find us boys
And write to us "Dear Jack,"
But I can't say we'll right back
Cause we're destined for the Hobbit's Shire
We're destined for the Hobbit's Shire
Yes, we're destined for the Hobbit's Shire
(The Road goes ever on and on…)
