of the Rhymes of Bitterness,<br>
and of the Lords,<br>

<b><u>Comments</b></u><br>
The first verse is quoted directly from Chapter 2, Book 1 of <i>The Return of the King</i> ("The Passing of the Grey Company"). The second appears to refer to the obscure "signs and figures" carved above the arch of the door to the Paths of the Dead.</p>
