Is the sky still blue above me, laced with white the wind brought from afar
Blue as banners high and mighty, indigo and silver tree and stars
Blue as oceans I have never seen or blue as I recall her eyes have been

Do you have news from fields of plenty green and golden spread across the plain
Took it with me etched and painted just in case I could not come again
Brown earth holds me since your age began on her turns around a yellow sun

I went to face desaster for the colours of my home
Been one among a million guys who would have come alone
A thousand years have passed and still I‘m not allowed to roam
For I was standing, falling and tremblin‘ beneath the colours of my home

Black and white and none between them standing eye to eye without a sound
Amber arrows whined in anger, dimmed the light and stained the dusty ground
Men like timber chopped against the grain, all around the mighty fell like rain

I went to face desaster for the colours of my home
Been one among a million guys who would have come alone
A thousand years have passed and still I‘m not allowed to roam
For I was standing, falling and tremblin‘ beneath the colours of my home

I went to face desaster for the colours of my home
Been one among a million guys who would have come alone
A thousand years have passed and still I‘m not allowed to roam
For I was standing, falling and tremblin‘ beneath the colours of my home

Is the sky still blue above me, blue as banners shading our lines
Is the grass that I lie under green as it has been before your time
before your time
