Come take a look at this land,
Miles over miles from the sea to the sand
And mortal and weak though mighty I am my realm may fade away
And what is the use in a kingdom whose ruler and it die the same day

Do you know death when you see it, can you see that death means me
Bow to my master down in despair or try to flee over sea

Nine is the number, nine is the might
Nine is the power that drives all you maggots into the night
Nine for the master, nine fell for a lie
Nine are betrayed and bound to a fate much worse than even to die

Oh what a life is the life that I live
A thousand years and more it's got to give
And I will be glad to see all my sons and daughters fall in the sand
The crown is for me, for me all alone, and terror rule the land

Do you know death when you see it, can you see that death means me
Bow to my master down in despair or try to flee over sea

Nine is the number, nine is the might
Nine is the power that drives all you maggots into the night
Nine for the master, nine fell for a lie
Nine are betrayed and bound to a fate much worse than even to die

Come take a look at this land,
Miles over miles from the sea to the sand
And mortal and weak though mighty I am my realm may fade away
And what is the use in a kingdom whose ruler and it die the same day

Do you know death when you see it, can you see that death means me
Bow to my master down in despair or try to flee over sea

Nine is the number, nine is the might
Nine is the power that drives all you maggots into the night
Nine for the master, nine fell for a lie
Nine are betrayed and bound to a fate much worse than even to die

Comments
Artist Comment: "This song deals not only with the fate but also with the feelings and motivations of those nine leaders of men who became ensnared with the nine rings of Sauron and became his most terrible servants, the Ringwraiths. The point was to make clear how the promise of absolute power and eternal life can corrupt a man's mind."
