Oh lord this shape I‘m in, I‘m butter spread to thin
Many years beyond my looks, a load of years to fill my books
Oh I long to see again, mountains far and dim
Backlit by the morning light, walk an unknown countryside

Miles and miles far down this track
And I don‘t think I ever will come back

I thank you my old friend, for lending ear and hand
You pushed me out of my own door, took a burden that I wore
The road I walk once more, the same as years before
I can‘t recall I felt this well for a time to long to tell

Miles and miles far down this track
And I don‘t think I ever will come back

I finally cut the line, again I am all mine
I dropped what kept me young and bound,
Watched it falling to the ground

It‘s heavy on the heart, it‘s tearing me apart
Though light my steps and strong I feel,
A wound like this takes time to heal
I‘ll take my time and head the call, It‘s out there and I‘ll see it all

Miles and miles far down this track
And I don‘t think
And I don‘t think
And I don‘t think I ever will come back
